(a) & (b): The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare administers a Centrally Sponsored Scheme
(CSS) for ‘Establishment of new medical colleges attached with existing district/referral
hospitals’ with preference to underserved areas and aspirational districts, where there is no
existing Government or private medical college. The fund sharing mechanism between the
Centre and State Governments is in the ratio of 90:10 for North Eastern and Special Category
States, and 60:40 for others. Under the Scheme, all the envisaged 157 Government medical
collegeshavebeenapprovedinthree phases witha minimumintake capacityof100 MBBSseats.
Out of these, 131 medical colleges have become functional and thereby added 14,379
Governemnt MBBS seats in the country. The phase wise details of medical colleges approved in
the countryare at Annexure.
Government Medical College (GMC), Dausa was approved under Phase-III of the
Scheme in the year 2019 at a cost of Rs.325 crores to be shared between Centre and State
Government in the ratio of 60:40. Out of Central Share of Rs.195 crore, Rs. 100 crore has
already been released to Government of Rajasthan. The college became functional with intake
capacityof 100 MBBS seats inthe academicyear2023-24.
(c) & (d) As informed by the Government of Rajasthan, there are 89 sanctioned posts in GMC,
Dausa, out of which 67 are filled as of now. Necessary steps have been taken by the State
Government tofill the vacant posts.
