TSUMATHYALIAS THAMIZHACHI THANGAPANDIAN: THIRU D M KATHIRANAND: Will the Minister of HEALTHANDFAMILYWELFARE be pleased tostate: (a) whether the National Medical Commission (NMC) has drastically reduced the number of seats in Compulsory Rotational Medical Internship (CRMI) for those qualified as Foreign Medical Graduatesduring the last one year; (b) if so, the detailsthereof; and (c) the steps taken by the Government to address the issues of Foreign Medical Graduates in gettingCRMI seats inthisregard? ANSWER THE MINISTEROFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SMT. ANUPRIYAPATEL) (a) to (c): As informed by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the number of seats for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) undergoing the Compulsory Rotatory Medical Internship (CRMI) hasnot beenreduced. Further, NMC has issued specific guidelines governing the internship for FMGs, as laid down in the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate (FMGL) Regulations, 2021 and the Compulsory Rotatory Medical Internship (CRMI) Regulations, 2021. These regulations are intended to standardize the internship process and ensure that FMGs receive clinical trainingcomparable to thatof IndianMedical Graduates (IMGs)prior to the grant of permanentregistration inIndia. Moreover, as per CRMI Regulations, following measures have been taken for FMGs for completionof the FMGinternship afterpassing examination: i. FMGs maybe posted first incollegeswhich have beennewly opened. ii. They may be posted to different medical colleges or institutions through a counseling or seat allocationprocess based on the merit. iii. The number of seats permitted for internship or clinical clerkship will be 7.5% of the permitted seats in old colleges who have their students pursuing CRMI and shall be 100% innewmedicalcolleges who do not have theirstudents doingCRMI. ******
