SHRI ARUN GOVIL: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has commenced following the approval of the Final Location Survey (FLS) in August 2022 for the railway line from Meerut to Bijnor via Mawana and Hastinapur; (b) if so, the timeline for its completion; (c) whether the construction of this rail line is likely to impact the Meerut- Delhi Rapid Rail and Meerut Metro; (d) if so, the details of the Government's assessment of this impact; and (e) the details of the estimated impact on tourism in the historic city of Hastinapur due to the construction of this rail line? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (e): Meerut and Bijnor are connected on existing Indian Railway Network via Hapur & Gajraula. To provide additional connectivity, survey for Daurala (Meerut) – Hastinapur - Bijnor (64 km) new rail line was sanctioned. The survey has been completed and Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared. After preparation of DPR, sanctioning of project requires consultation with various stake-holders including State Governments and necessary approvals viz. appraisal of NITI Aayog, Ministry of Finance etc. As § Page 1 of 6sanctioning of projects is a continuous and dynamic process, exact timelines cannot be fixed. The Delhi – Meerut Namo Bharat RRTS corridor and Meerut Metro corridor has been completed and commissioned. The alignment of Daurala (Meerut) – Hastinapur – Bijnor new rail line (64 km) is not affected by RRTS corridor. Uttar Pradesh : Railway Budget: Budget allocation for infrastructure projects and safety works, falling fully/partly in the State of Uttar Pradesh is as under: Period Outlay 2009-14 ₹1,109 crore/year 2025-26 ₹19,858 crore (Nearly 18 times) Track construction: The details of constructing new tracks falling fully/partly in the State of Uttar Pradesh during 2009-14 and 2014-25 is as under: New Track Average Commissioning of new Period Commissioned tracks 2009-14 996 Km 199 Km/year 2014-25 5272 Km 479 Km per year (More than 2 times) Projects sanctioned: As on 01.04.2025, 49 projects (10 New Line, 02 Gauge Conversion and 37 Doubling) of 3,807 Km length, costing ₹62,360 crore falling fully/partly in the State of Uttar Pradesh are sanctioned.
