**Policy Summary: Prime Minister DhanDhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY)**
On July 16, 2025, the Union Cabinet approved the Prime Minister DhanDhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), a scheme designed to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability across 100 districts in India. The scheme operates through the convergence of 36 existing central schemes across 11 departments, alongside state initiatives and private sector partnerships. A dedicated budget has not been separately allocated for PMDDKY; instead, it leverages existing resources through coordinated implementation.
The selection of the 100 participating districts will be based on three primary indicators: low agricultural productivity, low cropping intensity, and limited credit disbursement. PMDDKY's objectives include promoting crop diversification, encouraging sustainable agricultural practices, expanding post-harvest storage infrastructure at the panchayat and block levels, improving irrigation facilities, and enhancing access to both long-term and short-term credit for farmers. The progress of the scheme in each district will be monitored regularly using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) displayed on a dedicated dashboard.
