MGNREGS IN JAMMU AND KASHMIR
5262. Shri Jugal Kishore:
Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the details of all works initiated and completed in RDD block
Nowshera district, Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir during the
period from 1st January, 2025 to 31st January, 2026 including
the current status of sanctioned and amount spent, Panchayat-
wise;
(b) whether it is a fact that the pending liabilities for previously
sanctioned works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural
Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in RDD Block
Nowshera have not yet been paid whereas payments have been
released for newly sanctioned works in the same Panchayats;
(c) if so, the reasons for the delay in the payment of pending
liabilities, Panchayat-wise; and
(d) the details of the pending amount, sanctioned amount,
payments made so far and the remaining dues?

(a): Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee
Scheme (Mahatma Gandhi NREGS) is a demand driven wage
employment Scheme, with an objective to provide not less than one
hundred days of unskilled manual work as a guaranteed employment
in every financial year to every household in rural areas as per
demand, resulting in creation of productive assets of prescribed
quality and durability.
Details of works completed and ongoing including the
expenditure made on the works in the Nowshera block, Rajouri
district in Jammu and Kashmir under Mahatma Gandhi NREGS during

at Annexure.

(c) & (d): Since Mahatma Gandhi NREGS is a demand driven wage
employment Scheme, the responsibility of implementation of the
scheme is vested with the Governments of concerned States/UTs.
Under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGS, funds under material
components are released to the State Government through the SNA-
SPARSH system and the State Government further releases the funds
to its Districts accordingly. The Government of India does not release
material funds directly to the districts/Block.
Details of fund released to Jammu and Kashmir for material
component under Mahatma Gandhi NREGS during the last financial
year 2024-25 and current financial year 2025-26 (as on 19.03.2026)
are given below:
