(a) the details and present status of micro irrigation initiatives in Etawah and Fatehpur Parliamentary
Constituencies of Uttar Pradesh under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY);
(b) the details of the area covered under soil and moisture conservation and micro irrigation in
the said Constituencies;
(c) the number of farmers benefited under the above projects and the increase registered in crop yield and
efficient use of water;
(d) the details of major challenges faced during the implementation of PMKSY and micro irrigation
initiative in the said Constituencies; and
(e) the details of steps taken by the Government for summer irrigation and irrigation expansion in the said
Constituencies?

(a) to (e) Water, being State subject, water resources projects are planned, funded, executed and
maintained by the State Governments themselves as per their own resources and priority. In order to
supplement their efforts, Government of India provides technical and financial assistance to State
Governments to encourage sustainable development and efficient management of water resources under
various ongoing schemes.
Per Drop More Crop is a micro irrigation scheme launched in 2015-16, as a component of Pradhan
Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) and later on it got subsumed under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas
Yojana (RKVY) in 2022-2023. This scheme is being implemented by Department of Agriculture and
Farmer’s Welfare across India including Etawah and Fatehpur parliamentary constituencies of Uttar
Pradesh.
Government of Uttar Pradesh has informed the details of area covered, and farmers benefitted by
micro irrigation in Etawah and Fatehpur parliamentary constituencies, which are as tabulated below:

Further, it has been informed that due to the adoption of micro irrigation systems by farmers around
25%-30% increase in crop yield has been registered. Further micro irrigation has helped in saving the
ground water use and increase in water use efficiency.
To promote micro irrigation in said constituencies, the Government conducts several trainings, Kisan
Gosthis, melas and other awareness programmes.
Besides micro irrigation development, watershed development projects have also been taken up
under Watershed Development component of PMKSY in the said constituencies, details of which are given
below.
