Will the Ministerof HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFAREbe pleasedtostate:
(a) whether the Government supports both capital and operational costs for a Mobile Medical Unit
per10lakhpopulation;
(b) if so, the totalnumberof Mobile Medical Units operatedinthe country, State-wise;
(c) whether the Government has provided funds for the Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in Tamil
Nadu particularlyinVellore constituencyduring the last 5 years, if so, the details thereof; and
(d) whether the Government has allocated adequate funds for “Hospital on Wheels” and Mobile
Hospitals for Screening breast and cervical cancers among women in the country particularly in
Tamil Nadu andif so, the detailsthereof?

(a)& (b): Under National Health Mission(NHM), toimprove accesstoqualityhealthcareservices in
remote and rural areas support for Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) is provided to States/UTs, based on
the requirements posed by them in their Programme Implementation Plans (PIPs), subject to
availability of resources. The Central Government supports both capital and operational costs, for a
Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) per 10 lakh population. The total number of MMU operated in the
country, State-wise isgivenat Annexure.
(c) & (d): As per information provided by the State Government of Tamil Nadu, in Vellore
Constituency 7 MMU are being operated including 1 Tribal MMU. The detailed of funds provided
for MMUs for VelloreConstituency isgivenasunder:

2025-26 Rs. 41.64Further, the Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) under NHM carry out all functions of a Primary
Health Care Centre including screening for breast and cervical cancers. Central Government
provides financial support for the Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) operating under the National
Health Mission (NHM) across the country, including Tamil Nadu. The Operational Guidelines of
