Parliament Question: Monument conservation in Andhra Pradesh

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CULTURE RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2274 ANSWERED ON 12.03.2026 MONUMENT CONSERVATION IN ANDHRA PRADESH 2274. SHRI MEDA RAGHUNADHA REDDY: Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state: (a) the details of monument conservation projects approved and completed in Andhra Pradesh since 2021; (b) the funds sanctioned, released and utilised by the Archaeological Survey of India for conservation works in the State during this period; whether any proposals have been received for private sector participation in monument (c) conservation under the National Culture Fund or similar models and if so, the details thereof; and (d) the steps taken by Government to ensure time-bound approvals, effective monitoring and accountability in conservation projects in Andhra Pradesh? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF CULTURE AND TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) There are 135 centrally protected monuments/sites under the care and maintenance of & Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in the State of Andhra Pradesh. Conservation and (b) maintenance works of these monuments/sites is a continuous process and is taken up as per the need and availability of resources subject to the National Policy for Conservation. All these monuments/sites are in a good state of preservation. Details of fund sanctioned and utilised by ASI, for conservation works in the State of Andhra Pradesh during for the last five years are given below:- (Amount in Lakhs) S. (d) The proposals under the Annual Conservation Plan (ACP) & estimates are processed and approved through the designated portal. Monthly physical progress and expenditure reports are regularly obtained and reviewed.
