Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the list of monuments recognised as Monuments of National
Importance across the country, State-wise especially from Andhra Pradesh;
(b) whether the Government has considered rationalising the existing list, if so, the
details of the list of monuments proposed to be added, deleted and presently
removed State-wise especially from Andhra Pradesh;
(c) the details of the extent of funds allocated, released and utilised for the
maintenance and restoration of monuments of national importance during the
last five years, State-wise, especially in Andhra Pradesh;
(d) whether the Government has undertaken any steps to allow private entities to
sponsor the maintenance/restoration of monuments of national importance, if so,
the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(e) whether the Government has undertaken any steps to increase visitor footfall at
monuments of national importance, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons
therefor?

(a) 3685 ancient monuments and archaeological sites and remains of national
importance are looked after by Archeological Survey of India (ASI), out of which
135 are located in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Details are given at Annexure-I.
(b) The declaration of ancient monuments or archaeological sites and remains as of
National importance is a regular process undertaken according to provisions of
the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958.
Details of the monuments as well as archaeological sites and remains added
and removed during the last three years from list of monuments and sites are
given at Annexure-II.
(c) Details of allocation and expenditure incurred for conservation, preservation and
environmental development of protected monuments and sites in the country including
Andhra Pradesh during the last five years are given at Annexure-III.
(d) The Adopt-A-Heritage 2.0 programme, exclusively for protected monuments was
launched in September 2023 to create a framework for engagement with private/public
sector companies and NGOs/ Trusts/ Societies, etc., to develop/provide amenities at
protected monuments to enhance visitors' experience and make them visitor-friendly.Details of monuments and private/public sector companies under the scheme are given
are at Annexure-IV.
(e) ASI organizes cultural awareness programmes on various occasions like World
Heritage Day, World Heritage Week, International Museums Day, Republic Day,
Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, etc. through exhibitions, workshops and other
programmes involving school & college students and general public, etc.
Tourist facilities are provided as per the requirement and feasibility at various protected
monuments and sites including World Heritage properties in the country. Further,
amenities like drinking water, toilets and facilities like benches, pathways, wheel chairs,
ramps, signages, Braille signages, etc. are provided to extend better visitor experience
and make them visitor friendly. Providing such facilities and upgrading them is a
continuous phenomenon.
