Parliament Question: Monuments under Adarsh Smarak Scheme

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CULTURE LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.1193 ANSWERED ON 28.07.2025 MONUMENTS UNDER ADARSH SMARAK SCHEME 1193. SHRI G. LAKSHMINARAYANA Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state: (a) the number and names of monuments identified under the Adarsh Smarak Scheme across the country, State/UT-wise and monument-wise; (b) the details of funds sanctioned, released, and utilised for each monument under the scheme during the last five years, along with the current status of infrastructure and amenity development such as interpretation centres, Braille signage, parking, illumination, digital displays, and public conveniences; (c) the names of monuments selected under Adarsh Smarak Scheme in Andhra Pradesh, including the current status of work at each site and specific details of amenities developed or under implementation; (d) whether any new proposals have been received by the Government for infrastructure development, conservation, or tourism enhancement at the Lepakshi Temple in Anantapur, and if so, the details alongwith the status of such proposals including funds sought or approved; and (e) the steps being taken to ensure timely execution, monitoring, and quality standards for projects under the AdarshSmarak Scheme? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF CULTURE AND TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) AdarshSmarak was a onetime program initiated in the year 2014-15 for augmentation of visitors’ amenities. It was implemented at a total of 100 identified protected monuments and sites. The list of these monuments/sites is at Annexure–I. (b) No specific budget was allocated for Adarsh Monuments, as the expenditure for creation / augmentation of visitor’s amenities was met from the regular budget. The identified monuments and sites were provided with certain visitors’ amenities based on actual requirement and feasibility on case to case basis. The details thereof are at Annexure-II. (c) There were three (3) protected monuments identified under Adarsh Smarak program in Andhra Pradesh namely (i) Virabhadra Temple, Lepakshi, Anantpur, (ii) Nagarjunakonda and (iii) Buddhist Remains, Salihundum. The details of visitors’ amenities available at the said monuments are at Annexure-III. (d) At present, there is no such proposal under consideration.
