(b) the details of cost, target capacity and present status of implementation of each of these projects,
district-wise;
(c) whether any special measures have been taken to expedite the progress of these projects and if so,
the details thereof; and
(d) the details of the funds spent on each of the said projects so far along with the time by which these
are likely to be completed?

(a),(b)&(d): Under the Namami Gange Programme (NGP), a total of 38 sewerage infrastructure projects
(including Bhagalpur District) have been sanctioned in the State of Bihar. During the period from
2019–20 to 2024–25, 14 sewerage infrastructure projects (including Bhagalpur District) were sanctioned
in Bihar. The details of sanctioned cost, capacity, expenditure and present status of implementation of
each of these projects, district-wise, are enclosed at Annexure.
In Bhagalpur district, four sewerage infrastructure projects (Bhagalpur, Kahalgaon, Sultanganj and
Naugachia) have been sanctioned with a total treatment capacity of 70 MLD, at an estimated cost of
₹583 crore. Of these, two projects (Sultanganj and Naugachia) with a combined capacity of 19 MLD
have been completed.
(c) Yes. A comprehensive monitoring mechanism is in place at both the Central and State levels.
1. Empowered Task Force (ETF) Meetings: The Hon’ble Union Minister of Jal Shakti
regularly chairs meetings of the Empowered Task Force (ETF) on Ganga Conservation. These
meetings involve key stakeholders and State Governments and are aimed at ensuring steady
progress and timely achieving the objectives of Namami Gange Programme.
12. Review by Central Monitoring Committee (CMC): Review meetings under the
chairmanship of the Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga
Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD & GR), Ministry of Jal Shakti through the Central Monitoring
Committee (CMC) are conducted to evaluate progress, identify potential roadblocks, and
ensure timely resolution. As of June 2025, a total of twenty CMC meetings have already been
conducted.
3. Review by NMCG: Regular review meetings are also taken by NMCG, with key stakeholders
and the respective State Programme Management Groups (SPMGs)/State Missions for Clean
Ganga (SMCGs) to ensure effective coordination and monitoring at the State level.
These measures collectively aim to enhance implementation efficiency, remove bottlenecks and
ensure timely delivery of intended outcomes of the Namami Gange Programme.
