NATIONAL HIGHWAY DEVELOPMENT IN ODISHA
1374. SHRI MUZIBULLA KHAN:
Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) the total length of National Highways under development in Odisha;
(b) the number of highway projects currently under implementation;
(c) funds allocated for road infrastructure in the State during the last three years;
(d) whether new expressways are proposed for Odisha; and
(e) steps taken to improve road safety and reduce accidents in the State?

(a) The total length of National Highways (NHs) under development in the State of Odisha is
1,418 km.
(b) The total number of NH projects under implementation in the State of Odisha is 70.
(c) The funds allocated for road infrastructure in the State of Odisha during last three years are as
under:

(e) Provision for junction improvement, pavement markings, traffic calming measures, road
signs, crash barriers at vulnerable locations, solar blinkers, cat’s eyes, widening at curves and
narrow bridges/culverts, grade-separated intersections, vehicular underpasses, etc., are
incorporated in National Highway development projects undertaken under the Engineering,
Procurement and Construction (EPC) and Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). Further, in case any
deficiency is noticed after completion of the project, the same is rectified by the contractor
during the Defect Liability Period (DLP), as per contract provisions.
