SHRIBAIJAYANTPANDA: Willthe Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFAREbe pleasedtostate: (a) the list of major Non-Communicable Diseases covered under the National Programme for PreventionandControl of NCDs (NP-NCD); (b) the progress achieved under the programme in termsof population screening, early diagnosis andtreatmentcoverage against the identifiedtargets; and (c) the training and capacity-building initiatives undertaken for healthcare workers and frontline staffto strengthen the prevention,screening andmanagement of NCDs? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE (SHRIPRATAPRAOJADHAV) (a) to (c)The Department of Healthand Family Welfare provides technicaland financial support to States and Union Territories across the country under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD) as part of the National Health Mission (NHM). The programme focuses on strengthening infrastructure, human resource development, screening, early diagnosis, referral, treatment, and health promotion for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). UnderNational Programme forPrevention andControlof Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD), 770 District NCD Clinics, 479 District Day Care Centres, and 6,410 NCD clinicsat Community HealthCentresand233Cardiac Care Units have beenset up. Under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP -NCD), the Government of India focuses mainly on Diabetes, Hypertension, common cancers (Oral, Breast and Cervical), Chronic Kidney Disease, ST-segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI), Chronic Respiratory Diseases (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Non-Alcoholic FattyLiver Disease (NAFLD) andStroke.A population-based initiative for the prevention, control and screening of common non- communicable diseases (NCDs) has been rolled out across the country. Under the initiative, persons over30yearsof age are targeted for theirscreening for the commonNCDs. The progress achieved in terms of population screening, early diagnosis and treatment coverage is attached at Annexure. Prevention, control & screening services are being provided through trained frontline workers [Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) & Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM)], and the referral support and continuity of care is ensured through Community Health Centres, District Hospitals and other tertiary care institutions. Training Modules on screening, management and awareness generation for NCDs have been developed for training of various categories of health staffviz.
