ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH & FAMILYWELFARE (SMT.ANUPRIYA PATEL) (a) to (f): As per the Sample Registration System (SRS) Statistical Report 2023, the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) for India in 2023 was 1.9, with a higher TFR in rural areas (2.1) than in urban areas (1.5). Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) across the country (except Telangana), w.e.f. 01.01.2017. The PMMVY is a Centrally Sponsored Maternity Benefit Scheme under which cash incentives of ₹5,000/- is provided directly to the Bank/Post Office account of the beneficiary in Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode for first child.
