Will the MINISTEROFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE be pleased tostate:
(a)whether it isa factthat lakhsof devoteesfrom across the countryandabroadvisit the
ShirdiParliamentary Constituency inthe Ahilyanagardistrict of Maharashtra dailywhich
necessitates the needfor modern healthservices inthe area,if so, the detailsthereof;
(b) whether high-level health services and super-specialty medical facilities are not available in the said
area and citizens have to depend on cities like Mumbai, Pune orAurangabadforthe treatmentofserious
diseases,ifso,thedetailsthereof;
(c) whether the Government proposes to establish an AIIMS or a high-level super specialty hospital and
medicalcollege onthe linesof AIIMS inthe said area;and
(d) if so, the detailsthereofand if not,the reasons therefor,alongwith the future planof the
Government inthisregard,if any?

(a) to (d): ‘Public Health’ & ‘Hospitals’ are State subjects. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
provides technical and financial support to the States/UTs to strengthen the public healthcare system,
based on the proposals received in the form of Programme Implementation Plans (PIPs) under National
Health Mission (NHM). Approval is accorded to the proposals in the form of Record of Proceedings
(RoPs) aspernorms& available resources.
Health Dynamics of India (HDI) is an annual publication, based on healthcare administrative data
reported by States/UTs. Details of availability of health infrastructure including Primary Health Centres
(PHCs), Sub-Health Centres (SHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), Sub Divisional Hospitals
(SDHs) and District Hospitals (DHs) and other health units across the country including Maharashtra,
district-wise, may be accessed through the HMIS portal under Publications at the following link of HDI
2023-24:

Through 1.86 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs), including 13,457 AAMs in Maharashtra and
369 AAMs in Ahilyanagar district, comprehensive primary healthcare is provided by strengthening
Sub-Health Centres (SHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs). These AAMs are required to provide
preventive, promotive, rehabilitative and curative care for an expanded range of services encompassing
reproductive and child healthcare services, Non-communicable diseases, Communicable Diseases,
Elderly and Palliative Care, Mental Health Care, Oral Health, Eye and ENT care and basic emergency
care.
Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) isa Centrally Sponsored
Scheme (CSS) with certain Central Sector (CS) components, which has beenimplemented to strengthen
India's public health system through reforms that integrate health service delivery, public health action
and health research, thereby enhancing the capacity of public health systems to effectively respond to
pandemics and other public health emergencies. Total amount of Rs. 1,195.14 crore has been allocated
under PM-ABHIM for the State of Maharashtra for FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26. Approvals have been
accorded to the State for 36 Integrated District Public Health Laboratories (IPHLs) and 36Critical Care
Hospital Blocks (CCBs), amounting to Rs. 1086.44 crore including 1 IPHL and 1 CCB in Ahilyanagar
district.
Under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), setting up of 22 All India Institutes of
Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has beenapproved including one AIIMS at Nagpur inMaharashtra, which is
functional. Further, for expansion and strengthening of tertiary healthcare facilities in Maharashtra,
under another component of PMSSY upgradation of six (06) Government Medical Colleges/ Institutes
have been approved by way of construction of Super Specialty Blocks (SSBs) on Centre-State costsharing basis: (i) Grant Medical College & Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, Mumbai (ii) Government Medical
College, Nagpur (iii) Govt. Medical College, Aurangabad (iv) Govt. Medical College, Latur (v) Govt.
Medical College,Akola and (vi) ShriVasantraoNaik Govt. Medical College,Yavatmal.
Under Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for ‘Establishment of new medical colleges attached with
existing district/referral hospitals’,out of 157 medical collegesapproved,02 medicalcollegeshave been
approvedinGondia andNandurbar district inMaharashtra andare functional.
