Shri Kartick Chandra Paul: Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state: (a) the number of candidates who appeared and qualified in the National Eligibility-cum Entrance Test (NEET) from West Bengal during the last five years, district-wise and year-wise; (b) the criteria adopted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for allocation of NEET examination centres within districts; (c) whether the Government is aware that Uttar Dinajpur district, despite being a large and populous district in West Bengal does not have a NEET examination centre, if so, the details thereof; (d) the reasons for non-allocation of a NEET centre in the said district, including infrastructure or administrative constraints, if any; and (e) whether the Government proposes to establish a NEET centre in Uttar Dinajpur to reduce hardship to candidates in future examinations, if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (DR. SUKANTA MAJUMDAR) (a) to (e) The National Testing Agency (NTA) was established in 2018 as a premier, specialized, autonomous and self-sustained testing organization to conduct examinations for Admission/Fellowship in Higher Education Institutions. NTA has been conducting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) on behalf of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for admission to undergraduate medical education in all medical institutions since 2019. The NEET (UG)-2025 Examination was conducted by NTA for more than 22 lakh candidates at 5468 different centres located in 552 Cities throughout the country and 14 Cities outside India on 4th May 2025.
