NEW AIRPORT AT VUAKMUAL, MIZORAM
4023. SHRI K. VANLALVENA
Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:-
(a) whether Government will construct new airport at Vuakmual, Lunglei district, Mizoram;
and
(b) whether Government of the Mizoram has submitted the result of aerial survey and ground
survey for this new airport?
ANSWER
Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar
Mohol)
(a) & (b): As per Greenfield Airports (GFA) Policy, 2008, Airport Developer is required to
identify a suitable site and get the Pre-feasibility Study conducted and submit a proposal to
the Central Government for 'Site Clearance' followed by 'In-Principle' approval for
development of a Greenfield Airport. No proposal seeking Site Clearance has been received
for development of a Greenfield airport at Vuakmual, Lunglei district, Mizoram.
State Government of Mizoram requested Airports Authority of India (AAI) for carrying out a
Pre-feasibility Study at Vuakmual in October 2025. AAI has sought required data in
November 2025 from State Government for conducting this Pre-feasibility study.
