GOVERNMENTOFINDIA MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE DEPARTMENTOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE LOK SABHA UNSTARREDQUESTION NO. 3387 TO BE ANSWERED ON 8THAUGUST, 2025 NEW NURSING COLLEGES 3387: SHRIG LAKSHMINARAYANA SHRIAPPALANAIDU KALISETTI: Will the Minister of HEALTHANDFAMILYWELFAREbe pleasedtostate: (a) the number and names of new Colleges of Nursing that have been approved under the scheme – Establishment of 157 newColleges of Nursing (CoN) inco-location with Medical Colleges, State/UT-wise; (b) the current status of implementation of these approved nursing colleges (approved/under construction/functional), with expectedtimelinesfor operationalisation; (c) the details of funds allocated, sanctioned and released for each approved institution under the scheme, State/UT-wise andyear-wise; (d) the norms prescribed by the Government for co-location, infrastructure, faculty and affiliation of these Colleges of Nursing with medical colleges and whether any deviations or implementation delayshave beenreportedbythe Statesinthisregard; and (e) the details of proposals received from the State of Andhra Pradesh, especially Anantapur district including the names of medical colleges proposed for co-location along with the status of eachproposal andthe funds released, if anyinthisregard? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTHAND FAMILY WELFARE (SMT. ANUPRIYAPATEL) (a) to (c) The Government has sanctioned the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) “Augmenting Nursing Education – Establishment of New Colleges of Nursing in co- location with Medical Colleges” for setting up 157 Nursing Colleges in 2023. As on date, proposals from 113 colleges of Nursing from States/UTs have beenreceived and approvedby the Ministry of HealthandFamily Welfare.Current status isasperAnnexure. Under the scheme, funds of Rs. 10 crore per College of Nursing including both Central and State share are provided with a funding ratio of 90:10 for NE and Special Category States, 60:40 for other States, and 100% Central funding for UTs without Legislature. Out of total central share of Rs. 1016 crore under the scheme, Rs. 436.82 crore has been released to States/UTs. State/UT-wise detailsasperAnnexure.(d) The States/UTs are required to adhere to the norms prescribed by the regulatory body for establishment of nursing institutions. The co-location with medical colleges facilitates optimal utilisation of infrastructure, faculty, skill labs and clinical resources of the existing medical colleges. The scheme, originally approved for implementation during 2023–24 to 2025–26 hasbeengrantedanextension till 2026–27. (e) In respect of Andhra Pradesh, three (3) Colleges of Nursing at Piduguralla, Paderu, and Machilipatnam have been approved. An amount of Rs. 6.00 crore has been released towards the Central share.
