Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is true that the financial approval proposal for the Nira Devdhar Irrigation Project in
Maharashtra was submitted by the Ministry to the Public Investment Board (PIB) and if so, the details
thereof;
(b) whether the PIB meeting scheduled for 07.06.2024 to evaluate the proposal was postponed and if so,
the details thereof and the reasons therefor;
(c) whether a revised date has been fixed and if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether any follow-up request has been sent by the Ministry to the PIB since the postponement and
if so, the details thereof; and
(e) the steps being taken by the Government to expedite the approval process in light of the fact that the
project is critical for lakhs of farmers in the drought-prone and backward region of Madha Lok Sabha
Constituency?

(a) to (e) Yes. The memorandum for Public Investment Board (PIB) for inclusion of Nira Devdhar
Irrigation Project of Maharashtra with estimated cost of ₹ 3,591.46 crore (June 2022 Price Level) under
Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna-Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (PMKSY-AIBP) has
been submitted by DoWR,RD&GR to Department of Expenditure. The PIB meeting scheduled on
07thJune 2024 was postponed. Revised date for PIB meeting has not been fixed. Approval for inclusion
of a project under PMKSY-AIBP is taken up after successful appraisal of the project by PIB and its
recommendations for inclusion under the scheme.
