OBJECTIVES OF PMKSY AND DRIP
2638. SHRI PARIMAL NATHWANI:
Will the Minister of Jal Shakti be pleased to state:
(a) detailed objectives of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) and Dam Rehabilitation
and Improvement Project (DRIP);
(b) details of funds allocated by Government under PMKSY and DRIP to various States during the last
three years, year-wise and State-wise; and
(c) the number of existing dams of the country that have benefitted from DRIP during the last three
years, State-wise and year-wise?

(a) The objective of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) is to enhance physical access
of water on farm and expand cultivable areas under assured irrigation, improve on-farm water use
efficiency and introduce sustainable water conservation practices.
The objective of the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) is to improve the safety and
operational performance of selected dams through rehabilitation and strengthening of dam structures,
establishment of institutional arrangements for dam safety, and capacity building of dam owners.
(b) & (c) Details of central assistance provided to States during last three years under different
components of PMKSY is given at Annexure-I.
Against the financial outlay of DRIP Phase II and Phase III of Rs 10,211 crore for 19 States and
3 Central Agencies to be spent over the period of 10 years (2021-2031), outlay for ongoing Phase II is
Rs 5107 crore.
Rehabilitation proposals in the form of Project Screening Template (PST) for 180 dams have been
approved by the World Bank. The rehabilitation works at 106 dams are in various stages of
implementation, out of which major physical rehabilitation works have been completed at 37 dams
during last three years.
The details of Implementing Agency wise project cost allocation, expenditure and status of
rehabilitation of dams in last three years is given at Annexure-II.
