the said States,States/UTs-wise;
(d) whether there is any plan to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation in the

(a): The donated organs are to be transplanted at the earliest possible time after retrieval and
not to be banked. The donated tissues are banked. The State Governments have setup Tissue
Banks as per the need and grant registration under Transplantation of Human Organs and
TissuesAct, 1994.

(ROTTOs), State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organizations (SOTTOs) organize awareness

These organizations also engage with various stakeholders namely Government Ministries
and Departments, Municipal Corporations, PSUs, professional societies, NGOs, community-
based groups, schools, universities, medical, nursing and other institutions, corporates, police
department, media etc. to promote and sensitize about organ and tissue donations. Various
awareness activities like transplant games, poster making, slogan writing, special pledge
campaignsareorganizedregularly.
The NOTTO website www.notto.mohfw.gov.in disseminates information about organ and
tissue donation including display of IEC Materials. Also, a 24x7 call centre having a toll-free
helpline number (1800114770) is functional to provide information, tele-counselling and
coordination for organ donation.Dissemination of messages through social media (Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram,YouTube Channelsof NOTTO)isbeingdoneonday-to-daybasis.
To facilitate citizens to pledge for organ and tissue donation, a dedicated web portal
https://notto.abdm.gov.in is functional through which till now more than 3.2 lakh Aadhaar
verifiedpledgeshave beenregistered since17thSeptember,2023.
Under NOTP, grants are provided to States depending upon the proposals received, for
establishing ROTTOsandSOTTOs, augmentinginfrastructure inpublic sector forsetting up
Organ Transplant/Retrieval Centers and Tissue Banks, hiring of Transplant Coordinators by
Government Medical Colleges and Trauma Centers, maintenance of deceased donors, organ
transport, post- transplant immune-suppressant medicines, carrying out awareness, training
andcapacitybuilding activitiesetc.Statesare encouraged totake proactive actionstofurther
strengthen the transplantation programme,includingawareness programme at State level.Annexure
