OPERATIONAL STATUS OF PAKYONG AIRPORT

Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION
be pleased to state:-
(a) the present operational status of Pakyong Airport under the Airports
Authority of India (AAI);
(b) the total number of flights operated from the Airport since its inauguration;
(c) the details of the ongoing civil works at the Airport including the physical
and financial progress made thereof;
(d) the number of AAI employees presently posted at Pakyong Airport; and
(e) the details of the funds utilised for operational purposes at the Airport since
its inauguration, year-wise?

(a) & (b): Pakyong Airport is an operational airport of the Airports Authority of
India. However, there are no scheduled flight operations at the airport at
present. The total number of aircraft movements at Pakyong Airport since its
inauguration is 2018.
(c): The Airports Authority of India has undertaken the widening of the Runway
Basic Strip on the western side of the runway, including slope stabilisation
measures (balance work) on the uphill side and improvement of the storm water
drainage system at Pakyong Airport, Sikkim, on a design and build basis with
an integrated 10-year maintenance period. The physical progress of the work is
36.12%, while the financial progress is Rs. 98.07 crore.
(d): The total number of AAI employees presently posted at Pakyong Airport is
21, including executives and non-executives.(e): The total funds utilised for operational purposes (total revenue expenditure)
at the airport since its inauguration, year-wise, are provided below:
