Parliament Question: Operationalization of AIIMS Raipur

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO- 447 TO BE ANSWERED ON 03.02.2026 OPERATIONALIZATION OF AIIMS RAIPUR 447 SHRI DEVENDRA PRATAP SINGH: Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:- (a) whether it is a fact that AIIMS Raipur has a specific number of beds, ICU beds, and specialties currently operational; (b) if so, the details of the total number of beds, ICU beds, and specialties available at AIIMS Raipur; (c) the details of vacant positions for nursing staff and doctors at AIIMS Raipur, and the steps being taken to address these vacancies; and (d) the future plans for expansion and improvement of infrastructure, medical facilities, and services at AIIMS Raipur? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) to (c): All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur, set up under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, has 1098 operational beds including 180 ICU Beds. At present, 24 Speciality and 17 Super-Speciality facilities are operational in the Institute. Details at Annexure-I. The details of sanctioned and in-position doctors and nursing staff at AIIMS Raipur is as under: Category Sanctioned In-position Faculty (Doctors) 305 200 Nursing Cadre 1969 1604 The creation and filling of posts is a continuous process. In order to expedite the filling of vacant sanctioned positions in various AIIMS, including AIIMS Raipur, following steps have been taken:(i) Standing Selection Committee (SSC) has been constituted in each AIIMS including AIIMS Raipur as per the provision of AIIMS Act, 1956 for selection of faculty. (ii) Provision has been made for engagement of retired faculty at the level of Professor, Additional Professor and Associate Professor, on contract basis, up to the age of 70 years from Institutes of National Importance (INIs) and Government Medical Colleges (GMCs). (iii) The Visiting Faculty Scheme allows Professors, Additional Professors, and Associate Professors from government institutions in India or academic institutions abroad to serve as visiting faculty in AIIMS for teaching purposes. (iv) Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET) is conducted by AIIMS Delhi for recruitment of Nursing Officers for various AIIMS including AIIMS Raipur twice a year. (v) Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) is conducted by AIIMS Delhi for recruitment to Group B and C non-faculty positions in various AIIMS, including AIIMS Raipur. (vi) Junior Residents (Academic) and Senior Residents (Academic) are selected through the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) and Institute of National Importance Super Specialty (INI-SS) Exam respectively, conducted by AIIMS Delhi twice a year.
