ANSWER
Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol)
(a): The details of top ten airports in the country in terms of handling highest number of domestic &
international passenger traffic during the last three calendar years, year-wise and airport-wise is
placed at Annexure.
(b): Airport wise cancellation data is not maintained by Directorate General of Civil Aviation
(DGCA). However, as per air traffic data furnished by the airlines, the number of domestic flight
cancellations during the years 2023, 2024 and 2025 stood at 7,427, 14,978 and 18,349 respectively.
(c): India is one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world. Market share of Airlines keeps
on changing as and when new aircraft are inducted and operationalised. The National Civil Aviation
Policy, 2016 seeks to provide a conducive ecosystem for overall growth of the Indian aviation sector
in a harmonised manner that includes growth of all its sub-sectors viz airlines, airports, MRO, FTO
etc. The Policy envisages growth of civil air transport operations creating an environment for existing
airlines to grow and new airlines to enter. The Regional Connectivity Scheme-UDAN has further
enhanced the potential for new airlines to emerge.
