MEENAKSHI JAIN: Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state: (a) whether Virupaksha Temple’s (Hampi, Karnataka) pavilion has collapsed; (b) if so, the details thereof; and (c) whether ASI has begun dismantling the entire pavilion of the Temple? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF CULTURE AND TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) The pavilion of the Virupaksha Temple under the jurisdiction of Archaeological Survey of & India (ASI) has not collapsed. (b) There are 506 centrally protected monuments/sites under the jurisdiction of ASI in the State of Karnataka. Conservation and preservation of these monuments/sites is a regular process and is taken up as per the requirement and availability of resources as per the guidelines of National Policy for Conservation, 2014. (c) At present, no such proposal is under consideration. *****
