This document summarizes the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's response to a parliamentary inquiry regarding payment delays under the Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) in the Karauli and Dholpur districts of Rajasthan. The inquiry specifically asked about delays or non-payment of assistance to pregnant women.
The Ministry, responding on July 25, 2025, stated that payments under JSY are processed digitally via OJAS software to ensure transparency and timeliness. According to information from the State of Rajasthan, payments are generally completed within 10 days of a woman's discharge from a health institution. Delays in a minority of cases are attributed to beneficiaries' delayed submission of necessary documents (bank details, Aadhaar, etc.) or technical issues.
Regarding grievance redressal, the Government of Rajasthan already has a functional portal named Rajasthan Sampark Portal, accessible by dialing 181, which JSY beneficiaries can use to register queries or payment-related grievances.
