RANI SRIKUMAR: Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state: (a)the details of the number of beneficiaries enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (PM-SYM) in Tamil Nadu, district- wise; (b)whether the Government has identified the reasons for low enrolment under PM-SYM in Tenkasi despite a significant unorganised workforce there and if so, the details thereof; (c)whether the Government proposes to merge PM-SYM with the Atal Pension Yojana or integrate it with the e-Shram database and if so, the details thereof; (d)whether the Government plans to subsidise contributions for the workers who are unable to pay; and (e)the details of the awareness initiatives undertaken by the Government in Tamil Nadu, particularly in Tenkasi, to improve PM- SYM enrolment? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT (SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE) (a): The number of beneficiaries enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) scheme in Tamil Nadu is 69,490 (as on 10.07.2025), and the district-wise enrollment is Annexed. (b): The reasons for low enrolment under PM-SYM scheme is under: (i) It is a contributory scheme, hence requires long-term financial commitment by the beneficiaries. Contd..2/-:: 2:: (ii) Awareness, persuasion and mobilization of beneficiaries are required to be done through State Government or CSC Machinery. (iii) The workers in unorganised sector have variable employment opportunities. (iv) Many of the States give pension to the eligible age group without any contribution from the beneficiary. (c): At present there is no such proposal to merge this scheme with the Atal Pension Yojana. PM-SYM scheme is already integrated with the eShram database. (d): Government pays 50% subsidy towards the contribution required to be made under the scheme. (e): The steps taken by the Government for the awareness of this scheme in the country including Tamil Nadu are as follows: (i) Holding periodic review meeting with States/ UTs. (ii) Common Services Centres (CSCs) are given an incentive on every eligible person enrolled in PM-SYM. (iii) Launch of new features: Voluntary EXIT, Revival Module, Claim Status, and Account Statement. (iv) Extension of revival of dormant accounts from 1 year to 3 years. (v) Two-way integration of PM-SYM and eShram. (vi) SMS campaign to create awareness.
