GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1213 ANSWERED ON MONDAY THE 27th JULY, 2026 SHRAVANA 5, 1948 (SAKA) PRADHAN MANTRI INTERNSHIP SCHEME IN ANDHRA PRADESH QUESTION 1213. Shri Balashowry Vallabhaneni: Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the status of implementation of PM Internship Scheme in Andhra Pradesh, district- wise, with particular reference to Krishna district, since its implementation; (b) whether it is a fact that the Government is proposing to ease rules to companies and also students to allow Post Graduates, MBAs, etc., in PMIS, if so, the details thereof; (c) whether Phase-III has been launched, if so, the details thereof; (d) the number of participating companies in Phase-I, II and III; (e) the efforts being made by the Government to increase participation and reduce high dropout rate under this scheme; and (f) whether there is any proposal to increase the monthly stipend from the present Rs. 6000 per month and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE OF THE MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS AND MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS [SHRI HARSH MALHOTRA] (a): District wise details of offers made by the companies, offers accepted by candidates and candidates joined from the state of Andhra Pradesh, including Krishna district, in Round I, Round II and Round III of the PMIS Pilot Project is placed at Annexure I. Round III of the PMIS Pilot project is ongoing. (b): The revised Guidelines of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) – Pilot Project, issued vide Office Memorandum (O.M.) dated 12.03.2026, has expanded the categories of companies/organizations eligible to participate in the Pilot Project. Accordingly, top 2000 companies based on the average CSR expenditure during the last three financial years, companies having annual turnover of more than Rs.1,000 crores or having net worth of more than Rs.500 crores during the immediately preceding financial year, and companies from under-represented sectors are eligibleto participate under PMIS Pilot Project. Additionally, other organizations such as Professional Associations/ institutions, selected MSMEs, Global Capability Centers (GCCs), companies under Special Economic Zones (SEZs), statutory Authorities, State Government nominated companies etc. are also eligible to participate under the PMIS Pilot Project. Further, the revised Guidelines has expanded the eligibility criteria to include postgraduates students to participate in PMIS Pilot Project, however, candidates having qualifications such as MBA or equivalent, are not eligible to participate in the PMIS Pilot Project. (c): Round III of the PMIS Pilot Project was launched on 20.03.2026 with revised Guidelines. (d): No. of companies/organizations who have participated in the Round I, II and III in the PMIS Pilot Project is placed as Annexure II. (e): Based on the learning during the implementation of the Round I and Round II of the PMIS Pilot Project, following measures have been taken to increase participation and reduce high dropout rate under the PMIS Pilot Project: i. As per the revised guidelines of the PMIS Pilot Project issued vide O.M. dated 12.03.2026 following key changes have been made: a. A flexible duration of internships of either 6 or 9 months based on the company’s requirements is provided. b. The monthly allowance has been enhanced from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 9000. c. The age requirement for youth has been relaxed from 21–24 to 18–25 years. Further, candidates who have a master’s degree and students from final year of graduation/post-graduation are eligible. d. Scope of companies/organisations eligible to participate has been expanded. e. Adopted a rolling internship cycle allowing continuous posting, selection, and onboarding. ii. Portal Improvement: functionality for geo-tagging internship location, moving vacancies and candidates between one location to another and, more visibility of additional benefits given by companies to the candidates. iii. Targeted Information, Education and Communications (IEC) activities. iv. Active engagement and coordination with States, UTs, Ministries and Departments of the Central Government and Industry Associations for enhancing the outreach of the scheme. (f): As per the revised Guidelines issued vide O.M. dated 12.03.2026, the monthly assistance payable to interns has already been enhanced from ₹5,000 to ₹9,000 with effect from March 2026. ******Annexure I Annexure I to the Lok Sabha Unstarred Q.
