SMITA UDAY WAGH: SHRI DEVUSINH CHAUHAN: Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state: (a) the details of the total number of projects sanctioned under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) Scheme since its inception, along with their present status across the country; (b) the details of the number of PRASHAD projects specifically approved in Maharashtra, particularly in Jalgaon Lok Sabha constituency and the Khandesh region; (c) the details of the number of iconic tourism projects sanctioned/approved under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) Guidelines and the sectors they cover; (d) the details of the total budgetary allocation made under the SASCI Guidelines along with the funds disbursed to Maharashtra so far; and (e) whether the Government has any proposal to take up religious or heritage tourism sites in the Khandesh region under PRASHAD or SASCI in the near future and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) to (e): Development of tourist destinations and products is primarily undertaken by the respective State Government/Union Territory (UT) Administration. The Ministry of Tourism under the “Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive” (PRASHAD) provides financial assistance to the State Governments and Union Territory Administrations for development of tourism infrastructure at identified religious and heritage sites across the country, including the State of Maharashtra.The details of the projects sanctioned under PRASHAD Scheme across the country including Maharashtra is placed at Annexure - I. The Ministry of Tourism issued operational guidelines for ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment – Development of Iconic Tourist Centres to Global Scale’(SASCI) with the objective to comprehensively develop iconic tourist centres in the country, branding and marketing them at global scale. The Ministry has sanctioned 40 projects for an amount of Rs.3295.76 Crore including 2 projects in the State of Maharashtra for an amount of Rs.146.05 crore under the scheme. The details of the projects sanctioned under SASCI Scheme is placed at Annexure - II. Receiving proposals from the State Governments/UT Administrations for financial assistance for tourism projects is a continuous process.
