GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CULTURE LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO-95 ANSWERED ON 20.07.2026 PRESERVATION AND PROMOTION OF TRADITIONAL CRAFT OF AMROHA DHOLAK †95. SHRI KANWAR SINGH TANWAR: Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state: (a) the details of progress made in preservation and promotion of the traditional craft of making Gl-tagged Amroha Dholak (drum) in Amroha district in Uttar Pradesh, including documentation of traditional knowledge in the field of providing assistance to senior artisans, skill transfer to the younger generation, cultural promotion, exhibitions, museums and preservation of this unique musical heritage; (b) the details of cultural programmes, artisan assistance, exhibitions and public awareness activities organised for promotion of Amroha Dholak in the said district; (c) the details of financial assistance sanctioned, released and utilised under cultural heritage and artisan promotion schemes for the district during the last three years; (d) the details of progress made in preservation of traditional crafts in the said district, participation of artisans and promotion of Amroha Dholak at national and international levels; and (e) the details of projects identified by the Government for preservation of Amroha Dholak and traditional crafts for strengthening the cultural identity of the district? ANSWER MINISTER OF CULTURE AND TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) The traditional knowledge of the crafts including GI-tagged crafts are preserved by O/o Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) under Ministry of Textiles, Government of India through initiatives like the Guru Shishya HasthsilpPrashikshan Programme (GSHPP) under the National Handicrafts Development Programme. (b) to (e) The O/o Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) has sanctioned various programmes like Guru Shishya HastshilpPrashikshan Programmes, Toolkit Distribution Programmes, Design Development Workshops, Craft Demonstration-cum-Awareness Programmes and Chaupals under the National Handicrafts Development Programme (NHDP) for the musical instruments and woodware crafts category. During the last three years, a total of 224 artisans has been benefited by O/o Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) under the musical instruments and woodware crafts category. *****
