PROCUREMENT OF FOOD GRAINS AT MSP

Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) the percentage of farmers who sold their paddy and wheat at Minimum Support Price (MSP)
through Government procurement during marketing seasons in the last three years, State-wise;
(b) the total value of food grain procured under MSP-linked procurement during the same period,
the details thereof, State-wise; and
(c) whether Government has assessed the percentage of small and marginal farmers, as a
proportion of all farmers, who are actually able to access MSP procurement?

QUESTION NO. 301 FOR 20/03/2026 REGARDING PROCUREMENT OF FOOD
GRAINS AT MSP.
(a): As per the information received from Department of Food & Public Distribution, the
percentage of farmers who sold their paddy and wheat at Minimum Support Price (MSP) against
the registered farmers through Government procurement during marketing seasons in the last
three years, State-wise i.e. 2022-23, 2023-24 & 2024-25 are given at Annexure-I & II
respectively.
(b): The total value of foodgrains (paddy, wheat, coarsegrains and pulses) procured at MSP
during 2022-23, 2023-24 & 2024-25, State-wise is at Annexure-III.
(c): Farmers participating in procurement as well as those selling in the open market benefit
from the MSP announcement. Farmers including small and marginal farmers decide the quantity
of produce for sale at MSP based on their marketable surplus. Further, they are free to sell their
produce anywhere if they get better price than the MSP.Annexure-I
