AMOLRAMSING KOLHE: Will the Minister of HEALTHANDFAMILYWELFARE be pleased tostate: (a) the progress made under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) in Maharashtra since itslaunch; (b) the number of pregnant women in the State who have availed free ante-natal care services underPMSMAduring the last five years, district-wise; (c)the numberof high-risk pregnanciesidentified, trackedand monitoredunderthe Extended PMSMA(E-PMSMA)strategy inthe State; (d) the details of participation by private hospitals and specialist doctors in providing ante- natalcare services under the scheme inthe State; (e) the measures taken by the Union Government to strengthen the role of ASHA workers, ANMs andfrontline healthcarepersonnel inmaternalhealthcaredeliveryinthe State;and (f) whether the Government has assessed the impact of PMSMA on institutional deliveries, maternalhealthindicatorsandaccesstoqualityante-natalcare services inthe said State,if so, the detailsthereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE (SHRIJAGATPRAKASH NADDA) (a)to(c)Theprogress madeunderthePradhanMantriSurakshitMatritvaAbhiyan (PMSMA) inMaharashtra since itslaunch isplacedat Annexure-I. The number of pregnant women who have availedfree antenatal care services underPMSMA during the last five years, district-wise inMaharashtra, isplacedat Annexure-IIThe number of high-risk pregnancies identified, tracked and monitored under the Extended PMSMA(E-PMSMA)strategy inMaharashtra since itslaunchisplacedat Annexure-III. (d) Since itsinception, a total of 1230 private doctors have been registered underthe Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) to provide voluntaryantenatal care services to pregnantwomen inMaharashtra. (Source: PMSMA Portal) (e)Under the National HealthMission (NHM), the Government of India supports States/UTs, including Maharashtra, in strengthening the role and capacity of ASHA workers, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) and otherfrontline healthcarepersonnel through various initiatives, including:  Strengthening competencies through capacity building: Regular training and refresher is provided to ASHAs, ANMs and frontline healthcare workers on antenatal care (ANC),postnatal care(PNC),identificationandmanagementofhigh-riskpregnancies, birth preparedness, maternal danger signs, nutritioncounselling, breastfeeding, family planningandtimelyreferral through variousmodules.  Case-based ASHA incentives for mobilizing High-Risk Pregnant Women, along with transport incentives for beneficiaries, facilitating attendance of scheduled follow-up ANCvisits.  Active engagement of frontline workers, including Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), and Community Health Officers (CHOs) for promotion of PMSMA services at the community level and enable timelytracking andfollow-up of pregnant women. (f)The improvementsmade underthe Maternal Healthindicators inMaharashtra are asunder: As per the Sample Registration System (SRS), Maternal Mortality Ratio of ● Maharashtra has declined by 24 points from 61 per one lakh live births in SRS (2014–16) to 37 perone lakhlive birthsinSRS(2022–24). First trimester antenatal registration has increased from 67.6% in NFHS-4 (2015- ● 16) to85.4% inNFHS-6(2023-24). Mothers receiving four or more antenatal care visits have increasedfrom 72.2% in ● NFHS-4(2015-16) to77.5% inNFHS-6(2023-24).
