SURESHREDDY: Will the Minister of HEALTHANDFAMILYWELFARE be pleased tostate: (a)the detailsof the progress made inthe developmentof 100food streets/street food hubs; (b) the numberof such streets currently operationalandfunctionaltill date; (c)the detailsof the location of the operationalstreet food hubsandnumberof stalls; (d) whether the Ministry has undertaken any impact assessment or evaluation of the scheme's effectiveness inimprovinghygiene standards, livelihoodsandurbanfood culture; and (e)the detailsof funds released sofar for the aforementionedpurpose, State-wise? ANSWER THE MINISTEROFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRIPRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), has launched an initiative to develop 100 Healthy & Hygienic Food Streets across the country to promote safe and healthy food practicesamongfood businesses andcommunity members. To support the operationalization of these food streets, the National Health Mission (NHM), MoHFW has allocated financial assistance of Rs. 1 crore per food street. In this regard, proposals were received from 25 States/UTs. Of these, 83 food streets have been approved, and26 are currentlyoperational. (b) As of January 2026, the number of food streets operational and functional in the States/UTs are 26 with allthe necessary infrastructure and equipment. (c) The details of the Approved food street hubs and number State-wise are given at Annexure-1. (d) Health being State subject and monitoring of these food streets is done at the State level. The Ministry of Healthand FamilyWelfare reviews the infrastructure development and progress of these street food hubs with the State through NPCC Meetings and CRM (Common Review Mission). Also, FSSAI is mandated to lay down standards for articles offood and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption. No evaluation of the scheme's effectivenesshasbeenundertaken sofar. (e) Under NHM, from the FY 2022- 23 onwards, multiple pools and programme have been merged into a single pool i.e. “Flexible pool for RCH & HSS, National Health Programme and Urban Health Mission”. Accordingly, funds under NHM are released to this flexi pool through the State government on a lump sum basis for utilization against activities approved in SPIP within Resource Envelope (RE) as demanded by the States.
