Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of households in Rajahmundry that currently receive uninterrupted 24x7
piped water supply and the percentage of the city’s population still dependant on irregular or
tanker-based water services;
(b) the details of the key projects undertaken under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Rajahmundry
along with the latest figures regarding the installation of household tap connections in the city
and suburban areas;
(c) the manner in which the Government ensures transparency and accountability in JJM
projects, particularly in terms of fund utilization, leak detection and water conservation
measures in highly populated urban centers like Rajahmundry; and
(d) the details of the long-term strategies being adopted to enhance water supply
infrastructure, desalination plants and groundwater recharge keeping in view the increasing
demand for potable water due to population growth?

(a) to (d): Since August, 2019, Government of India is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)
in partnership with States to make provision of potable tap water supply in adequate quantity,
of prescribed quality and on regular & long-term basis to every rural household in the country.
As reported by State Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, in Rajahmundry rural area of East Godavari
District, at the start of Jal Jeevan Mission in August 2019, only 18,372 rural households were
reported to have tap water connection. As on 29.07.2025, around 11,030 additional rural
households have been reported to have been provided with tap water connection in the
Rajahmundry rural area out of total 31,485 rural households.
For urban area, the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) was
launched by the Central Government on June 25, 2015, for 500 cities (485 cities including 15
merged cities) across all States/UTs in the country. The major thrust areas of the Mission are
water supply, sewerage & septage management, storm water drainage, green spaces & parks,
Page 1 of 2non-motorized urban transport. Taking it forward, AMRUT 2.0 scheme has been launched on
01 October 2021 in all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)/ cities, enabling the cities to become 'self-
reliant' and 'water secure'. Providing universal coverage of sewerage & septage management
in 500 AMRUT cities is one of the major focus areas of AMRUT 2.0. Rejuvenation of water
bodies, development of green spaces and parks are other components of the Mission.
Under AMRUT, a total of 07 projects worth ₹97.09 crore has been taken up in Rajahmundry,
Andhra Pradesh. Works worth ₹ 55.75 crore have been completed. These projects include 01
water supply project worth ₹2.37 crore, 01 sewerage and septage management project worth
₹12.09 crore, 03 parks and green spaces projects worth ₹ 1.96 crore and 02 drainage projects
worth ₹ 80.67 crore.
Under AMRUT 2.0, so far 10 projects worth ₹230.34 crore have been approved by MoHUA
in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, which includes 02 water supply projects worth ₹100.24
crore, 03 sewerage and septage management projects worth ₹ 110.23 crore and 05 water body
rejuvenation projects worth ₹ 19.87 crore.
Among 02 water supply projects in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, a total number of 01, 24x7
water supply project worth ₹ 95.14 crore has been approved under AMRUT 2.0.
