SHRI SAT PAUL SHARMA: Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state: (a) whether Government proposes to establish a National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) for water sports in Jammu & Kashmir; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) whether Government has taken steps to promote sports by establishing Khelo India Centres (KICs) in the U.T.; (d) if so, the details thereof; and (e) the funds allocated to the U.T. for promotion of sports during the last two years and the funds utilised by it? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS (DR. MANSUKH MANDAVIYA) (a) & (b): No Sir. (c) & (d): Under the Khelo India Scheme, provision of setting up of 05 Khelo India Centres (KICs) per district has been notified in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir as per the general norms per district. This is a special measure for Jammu & Kashmir. As of now, there are 100 KICs notified in the UT. The details are provided at Annexure-I. (e): Funds are allocated Scheme-wise, not State/UT-wise by this Ministry.
