PUCCA HOUSES UNDER PMAY-G
2640. Shri Janardan Singh Sigriwal:
Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has fixed any target/timeline to provide
pucca houses to poor people under the Pradhan Mantri Awas
Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G);
(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise including Bihar and if not,
the reasons therefor;
(c) whether the Government has withdrawn/modified the allocation
of the houses from various States under the PMAY-G;
(d) if so, the details thereof, State-wise; and
(e) the total number of Pucca houses made and allotted to the
needy people under the said scheme during the last five years
in the country, State-wise including Bihar?
ANSWER

(a) & (b): In order to achieve the objective of “Housing for All” in
rural areas, the Ministry of Rural Development is implementing
Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) with effect from 1st
April 2016 to provide assistance to eligible rural households with
basic amenities to provide pucca houses with a cumulative target of
2.95 crore houses by March 2024. The Union Cabinet has approved
the construction of 2 crore additional rural houses in next five years
i.e. FY 2024-25 to 2028-29 to meet arising housing needs in rural
areas in the country. As on 11.12.2025, a cumulative target of 4.15
crore houses have been allotted to States/UTs out of which 3.86 crore
houses have been sanctioned and 2.92 crore houses have been
completed. The scheme has been able to achieve its major
Page 1 of 6milestones of allocation of 2.95 crore houses to the beneficiaries and
the Ministry is committed to achieving the target of pucca houses by
the prescribed deadline of 31st March, 2029.
The State/UT-wise details of targets, including Bihar, allocated
by the Ministry, houses sanctioned by the States/UTs to eligible
beneficiaries and houses completed as on 11.12.2025 under PMAY-G
is given in Annexure-I.
(c) & (d): The targets under PMAY-G are allotted by the Ministry to
the States/UTs on the basis of eligible beneficiaries available in the
Permanent Wait List (PWL) based on SECC 2011 and Awaas+, 2018
list after deletion/removal of ineligible beneficiaries by the State/UT
by following the due procedure. Therefore, the reallocation of targets
is necessitated to achieve the targets within set deadline. The
reallocation of targets is a regular process and takes place only upon
deletion of ineligible beneficiaries by the State /UT subject to an
overall ceiling of target of Scheme. The reallocation of targets is
carried out as PMAY-G focuses on providing the right benefits to the
right beneficiaries in the right timeline. As of 11.12.2025, no re-
allocation of targets has been done under PMAY-G during FY 2024-25
and 2025-26. The State wise distribution of targets is given at
Annexure - II.
(e): The total number of Pucca houses made and allotted to the
needy people under the scheme during the last five years in the
country, State-wise including Bihar is given at Annexure-III
