**Summary:**
This document summarizes the Indian government's response to a parliamentary question (No. 4356) regarding soybean procurement by the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) in the Osmanabad Lok Sabha Constituency during the Kharif 2024 season.
In response to the query, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare clarifies that 65,044 farmers registered for soybean purchase under the Price Support Scheme (PSS). NAFED procured soybean from 32,947 of these registered farmers between October 15, 2024, and February 6, 2025. The procurement was conducted based on arrivals at designated centers within the constituency during the specified period.
The Government of India approved the procurement of 14,13,270 MT of soybean under PSS in Maharashtra for the Kharif 2024-25 season. NAFED procured 8,35,757 MT, and the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India (NCCF) procured 2,84,257 MT in the state from pre-registered farmers. The initial 90-day procurement period, starting October 15, 2024, was extended twice to accommodate more farmers, first to January 31, 2025, and then to February 6, 2025.
The response explicitly states that there is no provision under the PSS to compensate registered farmers for the difference between the market price and the Minimum Support Price (MSP) if their soybean was not purchased.
