Parliament Question: Reasons for changes in scheduling at Jaipur airport

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION RAJYA SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. : 320 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 23rd March 2026 REASONS FOR CHANGES IN SCHEDULING AT JAIPUR AIRPORT 320. SHRI MADAN RATHORE Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether Government is aware of the fact that due to changes in scheduling at Jaipur airport, around 15 flights are likely to be affected or cancelled; (b) if so, the reasons therefor and the number of airlines and passengers likely to be affected; (c) whether Government has made any plan to increase the number of flights from the State of Rajasthan, especially from Jaipur to other major cities; and (d) the steps being taken by Government to maintain passenger convenience and regional connectivity? ANSWER Minister of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu) (a) to (d): A statement is laid on Table of the House. ******STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) TO (D) IN RESPECT OF RAJYA SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 320 FOR REPLY ON 23.03.2026 REGARDING REASONS FOR CHANGES IN SCHEDULING AT JAIPUR AIRPORT ASKED BY SHRI MADAN RATHORE. (a) & (b): Jaipur International Airport is operated by Jaipur International Airport Limited (JIAL). Runway repair work at the airport was scheduled from 17 to 23 March 2026, daily from 1300 hrs to 1700 hrs, after due consultation by the airport operator with the airlines and issuance of NOTAM. The work is being undertaken for essential pre-monsoon maintenance. Airlines adjusted their schedules accordingly and informed passengers regarding cancellations or delays. (c) & (d): With the repeal of the Air Corporations Act, 1994, domestic aviation has been deregulated and airlines are free to determine routes and capacity based on commercial viability. To safeguard passenger interests, DGCA has issued CAR Section 3, Series M, Part IV on facilities to be provided in cases of denied boarding, cancellations and delays. Government and airport operators have undertaken initiatives to improve passenger experience, including expansion of terminal capacity, Digi Yatra, self-baggage drop, UDAN Yatri Cafes, and enhanced passenger amenities including assistance for passengers with reduced mobility. Further, the Regional Connectivity Scheme RCS-UDAN was launched in 2016 to enhance air connectivity to unserved and underserved areas of the country. Under the Scheme, 663 routes connecting 95 unserved and underserved airports have been operationalised so far. *****
