Parliament Question: Recovery of black box of Air India aircraft that crashed in Ahmedabad

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. : 3362 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 23rd March 2026 RECOVERY OF BLACK BOX OF AIR INDIA AIRCRAFT THAT CRASHED IN AHMEDABAD 3362. SHRI SHAKTISINH GOHIL Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- a) the number of black boxes that have been recovered from the Air India aircraft that crashed in Ahmedabad in 2025; b) whether these said black boxes have been tested; and c) the causes of the crash revealed by testing of the black boxes? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) to (c): 02 Black boxes have been recovered from the Air India aircraft that crashed in Ahmedabad in 2025. Data from one Black box has been downloaded successfully but the other Black box was severely damaged. A preliminary report on the accident has been published on 12.07.2025 and is available on the website of Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). The investigation is under progress. All probable causes leading to the accident are being investigated. ******
