REGISTRATION OF NEW VEHICLES AND RESULTANT POLLUTION IN DELHI-NCR
3776. SHRI RAMJI LAL SUMAN:
Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) the number of new vehicles registered in Delhi-NCR during the last three years and the
quantum of pollution being caused by them in Delhi-NCR; and
(b) whether Government propose to introduce a separate policy for vehicle registration in Delhi-
NCR to help in controlling pollution?

(a) The number of new vehicles registered in last three years in Delhi-NCR are as under:

2023 18,94,591
2024 21,09,453
2025 23,18,486
Further, vehicular pollution as per published reports of NITI Aayog, accounted for about 12% of
national CO2 emissions from fossil fuel combustion in 2021.
(b) No such proposal is under consideration.
