REGULATION OF TOURISM IN RAIGAD
3075 # SHRI DHAIRYASHIL MOHAN PATIL:
Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state:
(a) whether Government has reviewed the impact of unregulated tourism activities, events and
commercial filming on centrally protected monuments in Raigad district, Maharashtra;
(b) whether any cases of violation of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) visitor
management norms or monument bye-laws have been registered;
(c) whether revenue-generating priorities at such sites have affected conservation related
safeguards; and
(d) whether there is any proposal to amend visitors regulation, carrying capacity standards or
punitive provisions to strike a balance between tourism and conservation in Raigad
district?
ANSWER

(a) All such activities like events, projects and filming at protected monuments located in the
Raigad district of Maharashtra duly taken place within the existing statutory provisions after
due approval from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) keeping the state of conservation
and structural integrity of the monuments in view.
(b) No such case has been reported.
(c) No, Sir.
(d) At present, no such proposal is under consideration.
