GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF TOURISM RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.2376 ANSWERED ON 12.03.2026 REVISING SAFETY STANDARDS IN ADVENTURE TOURISM 2376 SHRI RAJINDER GUPTA: Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state: (a) whether Government intends to revise safety standards in adventure tourism particularly for high-risk activities in order to prioritise participant well-being; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) if not, the reasons therefor; (d) the challenges faced in enforcement of safety standards; and (e) the measures proposed to ensure safety, such as mandatory insurance coverage and integration with State Tourism Boards for effective monitoring? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) to (e): Safety and Security of tourists is essentially a State subject. The Ministry of Tourism, in association with the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India has formulated Model Adventure Safety Guidelines with an aim to establish a comprehensive and standardized framework to ensure safety in the Adventure Tourism sector across India. These guidelines have been circulated to all States and Union Territories for adoption and formulation / updation of safety protocols. All the States / Union Territories have been requested to maintain a strict watch on all adventure related activities and ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and licensing norms by all the operators. ********
