(a) The National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) under the Ministry
of Health and Family Welfare administers an umbrella programme, namely, National Vector
Borne Diseases Control Programme (NVBDCP) for prevention and control of vector borne
diseases such as Dengue in the country. It provides policy implementation plan, guidelines,
technical guidance, and financial support to the States/UTs as per the approved annual
Programme Implementation Plan (PIP). National strategies are being implemented by the
Statestominimize the economicburdenandhealthimpacts of dengue.
There isno increase in the number of dengue cases in the Country during the last few months
during 2025 as compared to the corresponding period of 2024 and the details of number of
dengue cases inIndia for the year 2024and2025are asunder:-

(c) Government of India (GoI) has taken the following steps for prevention and control of
Dengue inthe country:
The Ministry is regularly monitoring the disease situation through the reports
submitted by the States/UTs. The situation and preparedness of States is being
reviewed at higher level for timely action and technical guidance. Nine reviews held
during 2025 includingtwo by Hon'ble HFM.
Thirteen advisories issued to States/UTs in 2025 to sensitize the States for
preparedness todealwith anyfuture outbreak.
For real time monitoring, States are being trained ondigital reporting on Integrated
HealthInformationPortal-Vector Borne Diseases (IHIP-VBD) portal.
For surveillance and free of cost diagnosis of Dengue, 869 Sentinel Surveillance
Hospitals and 27 Apex Referral laboratories identified across the Country. GoI
provides IgM test kits to all identified laboratories through National Institute of
Virology (NIV), Pune. Cost is being borne by GoI. Adequate funds have been
providedtostates for procurement of NS1kitsfor earlydiagnosis.
Provided Technical Guidelines for case management, prevention and control to the
Statesfor implementation.
Field visit to the States to assess the disease situation and provide technical guidance
tothe State.
Trainings is being imparted to doctors on clinical management and to entomologists
onIntegratedVectorManagement.
For awareness of the community, various IEC activities undertaken like interpersonal
communication, dissemination of social media messages emphasizing keeping the
houses and surroundings mosquito breeding free, observance of ‘National Dengue
Day’ on 16th May and Anti- Dengue Month in July with focused IEC/BCC activities
and advocacy. Focused messages were given to the community on dengue prevention
during IITFheldfrom 14-27 November, 2025.
NCVBDC organized webinar series on commemorationof 10thNational Dengue Day
on16thMay, 2025. Totalsix webinars were organized tosensitize the community.
Under National HealthMission, adequatebudgetarysupport providedtoStates/UTs in
an integrated manner with other vector-borne diseases including for Dengue control
activities i.e., case management, vector control activities, training support, awareness
activities,etc.
