Parliament Question: Rising incidence of cervical cancer in the country

SHRIRAJINDER GUPTA: Willthe Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFAREbe pleasedtostate: (a) whether Government has taken note of the rising incidence of cervical cancer in the country and, if so, the details of incidence and mortality figures during the last five years, year-wise and State/UT-wise; (b) the number of women screened for cervical cancer during the said period along with the details of detection rates of pre-cancerous and cancerous conditions including age-wise and State/UT-wise; and (c) the steps taken for implementation of HPV vaccination, including pilot projects, coverage achieved, target population vaccinated and the status of rollout of the indigenous HPV vaccine Cervavac,State/UT-wise? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE (SHRIPRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a): As per the National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research (NCDIR) – National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP), the estimated number of incidence and the estimated number of mortality of Cervical Cancer in the country during (2021-2025), State/UT -wise is at Annexure I & II. (b): As per the National NCD Portal, 8.73 Cr women have been screened for cervical cancer as on 17th February 2026. The State/UT-wise screening from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26 is at Annexure III.
