GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF JAL SHAKTI DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES, RIVER DEVELOPMENT & GANGA REJUVENATION RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1065 ANSWERED ON 09.02.2026 RIVER-LINKING AND IRRIGATION PROJECTS IN MAHARASHTRA 1065 SHRI SANJAY RAUT: Will the Minister of Jal Shakti be pleased to state: (a) whether the Central Government has received proposals from the State Government of Maharashtra seeking central financial assistance for river-linking and major irrigation projects to make the State drought- free, including Daman Ganga–Ekdare–Godavari, Daman Ganga–Vaitarna–Godavari, Konkan–Godavari Basin, Nal Ganga–Wainganga and Par–Godavari projects and the present status of their approval and fund release; (b) whether 29 irrigation projects have been included under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana and their basin-wise progress; and (c) whether ten out of thirteen Krishna and Godavari basin projects have been completed and the timeline for completion of the remaining projects, including the ₹2,038 crore Nilwande-II proposal covering 64,260 hectares? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI (SHRI RAJ BHUSHAN CHOUDHARY) (a) The National Water Development Agency (NWDA) has prepared the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of the Damanganga–Ekdare–Godavari, Damanganga–Vaitarna–Godavari, and Wainganga (Goshikurd)– Nalganga (Purna–Tapi) intra-State link proposals at the request of the State Government. NWDA has also prepared the Pre-Feasibility Report (PFR) of the North Konkan–Godavari Valley link proposal. The DPRs and PFRs have been submitted to the State Government for further necessary action at their end. (b) 29 irrigation projects of Maharashtra were included under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana- Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Program (PMKSY-AIBP). The status of the projects is given at Annexure. (c) As per information furnished by the Government of Maharashtra, 13 projects included under PMKSY-AIBP fall under the jurisdiction of the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation (MKVDC) and the Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation (GMIDC), out of which 10 projects have been completed. The Revised Cost Estimate (RCE) of the Upper Pravara Project (Nilwande-2) has been techno- economically appraised in the 159th meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation on Irrigation, Flood Control and Multipurpose Projects, at an estimated cost of ₹ 5023.24 crore. *** 1ANNEXURE ANNEXURE REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (b) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1065 TO BE ANSWERED IN RAJYA SABHA ON 09.02.2026 REGARDING “RIVER-LINKING AND IRRIGATION PROJECTS IN MAHARASHTRA” PMKSY-AIBP Completed Projects in Maharashtra Sl.
