ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT
(SHRI KAMLESH PASWAN)
(a) & (b): "Rural road" is a State subject, and Pradhan Mantri Gram
Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is being implemented by the Government of
India since the year 2000 as a one-time special intervention to
provide rural connectivity, by way of a single all-weather road, to the
eligible unconnected habitations of the designated population as laid
out in the program guidelines.
Under various verticals of PMGSY, since its inception, the state
of Karnataka has been sanctioned a total of 4,455 roads with 24,264
kms and 164 Long Span Bridges (LSB) out of which State has
completed 4,398 roads with 23,987 kms. The timeline for completion
of PMGSY-I works was March, 2025. All sanctioned works under
Page 1 of 2various verticals of PMGSY-II & PMGSY-III have been completed and
timeline for completion of already sanctioned work is March 2026.
Details of projects sanctioned under various verticals of PMGSY in
Udupi and Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka are as follows:

As per the extent MHA classification of LWE, Chikkamagaluru district
is not identified as naxal affected area.
(c): No rural road projects have been sanctioned under PMGSY in
Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka during last three years. Road
wise details of the district may be accessed at
http://pmgsy.dord.gov.in ->Proposals ->State-wise List of Roads.
(d): The Ministry has launched a new vertical PMGSY-IV in
September 2024 for providing new connectivity to 25000
unconnected habitations by March 2029. At present, the Ministry is
considering rural road projects under PMGSY-IV, and so far, no
proposals have been received from the state of Karnataka under
PMGSY-IV.
Further, Chikkamagaluru and Udupi districts have not reported
any damage to PMGSY roads due to heavy rains in year 2025.
