Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has sanctioned funds under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyaan
for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) labs, smart classrooms or digital
learning infrastructure in Government schools located in South Chennai during the last
three years;
(b) if so, the details of schools covered, funds approved and released;
(c) whether several Government schools in South Chennai have not received ICT
upgrades due to revised central funding patterns or delays in approvals, if so, the
details thereof; and
(d) whether the Government proposes to release additional funds or special
assistance to ensure that urban Government schools in South Chennai do not lag in
digital learning access, if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c): During the last three years (2022-23 to 2024-25), 6825 ICT Labs with an
estimated cost of Rs. 31010.50 Lakh and 6284 Smart Classrooms with an estimated
cost of Rs. 14955.60 Lakh, were sanctioned under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme
Samagra Shiksha for the State of Tamil Nadu. As per information received from the
State Government of Tamil Nadu, during the aforesaid period, ICT Labs for 35 schools
of South Chennai with an estimated cost of Rs. 238.10 Lakh and Smart Classrooms
for 23 schools of South Chennai with an estimated cost of Rs. 59.57 Lakh were
approved, and Rs. 154.50 Lakh was released for ICT Labs in 24 schools of South
Chennai.(d): During the current year 2025-26, 2166 ICT Labs with an estimated cost of Rs.
13523 Lakh and 2683 Smart Classrooms with an estimated cost of Rs. 3219.20 Lakh,
have been sanctioned under Samagra Shiksha for the State of Tamil Nadu. As per
information received from the State Government of Tamil Nadu, during 2025-26, 56
