GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. : 2574 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 16th March 2026 SCHEME FOR EXPANSION OF PANTNAGAR AND JOLLY GRANT AIRPORT 2574. SHRI MAHENDRA BHATT Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether a time-bound Scheme exists for the expansion and modernization of Pantnagar and Dehradun (Jolly Grant) airports in the State of Uttarakhand; and (b) if so, the outline thereof ? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) & (b): The expansion and development of infrastructure at airports is a continuous process and is undertaken from time to time depending upon the passenger demand forecast, operation requirements for safety of aircraft operations and demand from airlines depending upon the availability of land, financial viability and as well as other facilities related to intended aircraft operations. For expansion of Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun, Airports Authority of India (AAI) has requested 140.5 acres of land from the State government. For Pantnagar Airport, AAI has undertaken development works for construction of a new terminal building of about 8500 sqm with a capacity of 1.01 Million Passengers Per Annum (MPPA) along with extension of the existing runway to 3000 metres, suitable for operation of A321 type aircraft, along with allied works such as construction of apron, taxiway, perimeter road and boundary wall. The timeline for completion of the airport projects depends upon many factors such as land acquisition, availability of mandatory clearances, financial closure etc. ******
