SHRI DHARMENDRA YADAV: Will the Minister of MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES be pleased to state: the number of youth who obtained direct employment or self-employment so far under schemes such as Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Startup India and Skill India along with the details of authentic and latest data thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE) Ministry of MSME, through Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), is implementing the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) for generating sustainable employment opportunities primarily in rural areas by assisting prospective entrepreneurs in setting up new micro enterprises in the non-farm sector across the country. As per available data, since inception of the Scheme i.e., FY 2008-09 till FY 2025-26 (up to 09.12.2025), more than 10.71 lakh micro enterprises have been assisted under PMEGP providing employment to an estimated 87.25 lakh persons. Under Startup India initiative by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce, as on 31stOctober 2025, 1,97,692 entities have been recognized as startups . These recognized startups have reported to have created over 21.11 lakh direct jobs.
