Parliament Question: Senior Doctors opting VRS in AIIMS

SHRIGIRDHARI YADAV: SHRIDINESH CHANDRAYADAV Will the Minister of HEALTHANDFAMILYWELFAREbe pleasedtostate: (a) the current status of AIIMS at Rewari (Majra, Haryana), Awantipora (Jammu & Kashmir) and Bengaluru (Karnataka) including AIIMS Darbhanga in Bihar and the time by which all these Institutions are likely tobecome operational; (b) the reasons for leaving of Senior Doctors and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi by opting the voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) prior to their retirement, alongwith the numberof doctorswho have left the institute inthismannerso far; (c)whether it isa factthat the doctorsare frustrated overthe delayinthe treatment of patients caused by the burden of other administrative works apart from providing medical treatment, if so, the detailsthereof; (d) whether it is also a fact that doctorsfrom other AIIMS across the countryare also leaving theirjobs; and (e)if so, the detailsthereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATE IN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRIPRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) The physical progress of AIIMS at Rewari (Majra, Haryana) and Awantipora (Jammu & Kashmir) are 64.85% and 78%, respectively. Both projects are targeted for completion by December 2026. The pre-investment work is in progress at AIIMS Darbhanga and the target date of completion is July, 2029. Further, no AIIMS has been approved for Bengaluru (Karnataka). (b) to (e) During the year 2025, 06 doctors of AIIMS, New Delhi opted for the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) on personal grounds. Further, resignations, voluntary retirements, and subsequent filling up of vacancies in the AIIMS across the country are continuous administrative process. *****
